This 11 days program is comprised of two days of preparation on a diet of fruit, raw vegetables and juices. Then, seven days of fasting, herbal detox products and 15 colemas to cleanse the colon.

On the last half day of the fasting programs, the fast is broken gently and friendly bacteria is replaced in the colon with Flora Grow. After this, the fast is broken. You start to eat again with a plate of watermelon and papaya with yoghurt and bee-pollen. Both of them are included. During the programs you are carefully followed by dedicated staff and the program director.

Pre-fasting information

To help you get the most out of your time on detox at Ananda, they have put together the following information as a recommendation for at least 2-7 days before you start fasting.

It is best to prepare your body by eliminating the foods, thoughts and emotions listed below that are over stimulating and can exhaust the liver, body and mind:

Alcohol, drugs including over-the-counter, tobacco, caffeine and stimulants including chocolate

Sugar and all its relatives, including honey, dried fruit and fruit juice

Refined carbohydrates including white rice and flour products

Artificial sweeteners and chemicals

Very hot spices

Refined salt

Chemicals and preservatives

Gluten (from Latin glue) wheat, oats and other grains found in bread, pasta, soy sauces and vinegar

Dairy: milk, yogurt, and cheeses

Food cooked in oil except lightly with virgin coconut or olive oil

Meat and eggs with hormones and antibiotics

Soy protein isolates

Non-organic produce

Reducing or eliminating these liver-stressors for (at least) 2-7 days prior to starting the detox program will support your liver and reduce cleansing reactions. Drinking a minimum of 3 to 4 liters of good quality filtered or mineral water each day before your fast is a powerful way to begin the flushing process in the body.

Include foods that create balance and support the body and mind: vegetables, sea vegetables, fruits (limit amount of sweet tropical fruit and juices), whole grains, beans, nuts, and seeds.

If possible, eat a cleansing diet of mostly raw (or lightly steamed) vegetables and fruit with a few whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds the week before and after fasting.

Koh Phangan is an island paradise in the Gulf of Thailand located about 100 kilometers from the coast of Southern Thailands Surat Thani Province and about 15 kilometers from the famous resort island of Koh Samui. Koh Phangan is the largest of Samuis neighboring islands with an area of 168 square kilometers. At Ananda you can enjoy the traditional herbal sauna as well as a revitalizing and relaxing herbal steaming massage. The sauna is nestled among herbs and local plants, high off the ground.

Thai massage

This therapeutic healing practice has existed in Thailand for more than a thousand years. Chinese concepts of traditional medicine (including acupuncture and acupressure) and Taoist philosophy and practices both influenced the practice of Traditional Thai massage.

The beauty and uniqueness of Thai massage is the sitting and hand position when applying pressure and in smooth sequence transition.

Arrival by airplane

The first step on the journey is to get to Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).

The most direct way to Koh Phangan is to fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui. Check Bangkok Air for flights. From there you can take a minibus to Maenam Beach pier and take a boat from there to Thongsala on Koh Phangan. Lomprayah is one boat service that has a shuttle from the airport to the pier, and has three boats leaving daily at 8:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. Check Lomprayahs site for details and reservations.

Arrival by bus

Taking a government bus from Bangkok is a good way to get to Koh Phangan. You can choose from two bus types; the regular bus which offers limited leg space and the VIP bus which offers a lot of leg space because it has less seats than the regular bus. The government bus will continue on the ferry to Koh Phangan so you can leave your luggage on the bus, saving you time and the hassle of changing transport. The government bus leaves from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok, where you must also buy the ticket.

Arrival by ferry

Several boat companies provide a daily service between Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan or the mainland, in the tables below you can find most of them. Times of departure and arrival may vary. Ananda Resort recommends that you check with the boat company of your choice before you travel.

The Lomprayah Catamaran

The Lomprayah Catamaran offers a high-speed boat service from Mae Nam in the Northwest of Koh Samui and takes just about 20 minutes to get to main town Thong Sala in Koh Phangan. From Chumphon on the mainland it goes first to Koh Tao and then to Koh Phangan. New connection offered by Lomprayah is the high-speed connection between Don Sak (Suratthani) and Thong Sala which takes only 45 minutes.

The Seatran Discovery

The Seatran Discovery leaves from Bang Rak on Koh Samui and it takes about 30 minutes to get to Thong Sala. It also leaves from Chumphon on the mainland and takes about 4 hours to get to Koh Phangan.

The Haad Rin Queen leaves from the Big Buddha pier in Bophut on Koh Samui (near the airport) and it takes you directly into Haad Rin in about 45 minutes.

The Songserm Express

The Songserm Express boat has a daily service from Nathon on the west side of Koh Samui and from both Chumphon and Surat Thani (Lamphun pier) on the mainland to Thong Sala on Koh Phangan as well.

The Raja Car Ferry

The Nightboat leaves from Surat Thani Bandon pier. It is very basic and much slower than the other boats. Mattresses are provided so you can sleep during the trip.

Arrival by train

There is an efficient train service from Bangkok to the South of Thailand (southern line). The overnight sleeper trains are the best way to go. Check the latest prices and schedules via the service link on the website of The State Railway of Thailand. All trains stop in Chumphon and Suratthani, where you will be provided with a connecting bus to the ferry pier. The total trip by train and boat takes about 9 to 16 hours. A boat ticket to Koh Phangan and transport from the train station to the pier is usually included in the joint ticket. If you do not have a joint ticket you can always buy a ticket for the boat at the pier.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 30 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
