Cerca do Sul is a small boutique hotel which makes the best of a rather unprepossessing location. It is in flat countryside, fairly near a main road and well back from the coast along which we were walking. It is low rise and the few rooms are in a small block. In another block are a sort of porch with an awning where you eat dinner, plus a nice breakfast room and a well-appointed lounge with good information available. The swimming pool is small and above ground. I didn't use it because this is a windy site. There is a basement room which is used for yoga and this and other activities are available either on site or nearby. The breakfasts are excellent and we had two dinners: the first was good and the second just about OK. Dinner is 20 euros per person for 3 courses plus some house wine and this was decent value. Rather unsuitably for those on a walking holiday, breakfast starts at 9 a.m. after the daily bread delivery. There are no interesting views because of the location and the bathroom was rather dark with a poor shower curtain. The bed was excellent and the room clean.
A very quite hotel. The breakfasts and evening meals were very nice. Met other walkers around the one large table in the dinning area. A long walk from the beach to the hotel, approximately 1 hour, which is okay if it is not to warm!! Rooms and beds very comfortable.
