Join this detox and yoga retreat in Switzerland! This holiday is designed for those losing interest in life and suffering of "full plate and empty life" syndrome. If you need a stronger body, feel your limits, achieve your dreams, enhance your memory and concentration, cultivate a positive attitude, and refurbish your emotional outlook, join Holly Niemela in a definitive experience for your soul, mind, and body.
The maximum participants in the group is 16.
During this holiday, you will stay in either a shared or private room. The beds include two separate mattresses but they are connected on one wooden platform bed. This may be too close for comfort and would be ideal for partners, close friends or relatives but not for two people who do not know each other. The Steinbock Hotel has 15 bedrooms like this with en-suite bathrooms that promises a relaxing night. The rooms are modern, elegant, and are reduced to the essentials but offer everything you need. The rooms are facing south-west and have a modern card locking system and are also equipped with a pull-out couch. If you have any questions about the accommodation, please send an inquiry prior to booking.
During this retreat, you will experience three angular T's; transform, transmute, and transmit. This getaway is not a temporary solution but a life changing opportunity to learn how to push your reset button by encompassing Hatha yoga cleansing practices, yoga asanas, breath work, two hours of meditation teaching and practice per day, sauna and cold plunging, Ayurvedic and vegetarian cuisine, the healthy alpine air, thermal water, and the very energy of Vals.
You will arrive in Vals after following a five-day pre-retreat diet to get off coffee, meat, and whites. This pre-cleansing will enable you to start off on the first day with the practice of "Lagoo Shanshankprakshalana", a classic detox teaching from the ancient manuscript Hatha Yoga Pradipika). The goal will be to purify different systems of the body so that energy can flow freely through your entire body and facilitate the capacity to meditate, for introspection, and for well-being.
Holly Niemela will teach Kunjal Kriya, another typical yogic detox practice that she learned over 15 years ago in India. Kungal Kriya will help you to eliminate stagnated and undigested energy within your body. You will let go, your body will relax, and your mind will free up space to be able to reset.
You will wake up every day early at 6 a.m., after an eight-hour sleep, to drink a large glass or two of the Valser water with apple vinegar or lemon juice and then swing open the windows and breathe in the crisp and pure air.
You will dip in the mountain stream or the cold plunge in a daily bathing ritual before the morning practices. With a stunning vista of the alps, you will start the yogic practice with some chanting, short meditation, and a combination of gentle then dynamic asanas, breath work, and more meditation.
After the practice, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast to break the morning silence, share the meal, and yourself by taking the time to savor the food and drinks as well as the good company. The early afternoon will be slated for alpine walks with a picnic lunch, alternating moments in silence with mindful conversation and including stops for sitting meditation practice in the nature.
After the walk, you will return to the Steinbock Hotel to enjoy a sauna detox and cold plunge followed by a good nap or to simply enjoy the free time reading, relaxing, practicing yoga Nidra or just taking in the view. The dinner served at 7:30 p.m. will be followed by an evening meditation program.
Also, as a surprise, those who desire will have the opportunity to spend one night under the stars accompanied by cosmic photographer, snowboarder, nature lover, and Vals native Markus Casutt-Gartmann. You will watch the stars come out, meditate in a remote natural environment, and reconnect deeply with the planet, the stars, and yourself.
Some yoga and meditation experience is helpful but not essential for this retreat. Holly believes that everything is already in you if you have the intention to reset and she will help you to find the key for you to open the door. As she teaches, you will learn through your direct experience, not from a book or an extensive course and by the end of the week, you will be able to put together a yoga routine and a 20-minute meditation practice on your own.
Daily alpine walks in the surroundings are included in this retreat.
Holly has studied yoga and mind-body therapies for over 28 years with teachers from Europe, the United States, and India. She is a Reiki master, directly trained by John Harvey Grey. Holly is also trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn and was part of the first group of teachers that brought MBSR to France. Holly is a certified teacher in the mindfulness and emotional intelligence program.
This holiday will be held at the Steinbock Hotel in Vals, Switzerland. The hotel is situated directly in the skiing and hiking area. The Hotel Steinbock is the ideal place for sports enthusiasts and the view of the latest sports hotel in Vals is unique. You can look just like the mountains across the valley over the roofs of Vals.
Vals is situated in the heart of the Alps, exactly in the middle between Milan and Zurich and is a Walser-German-speaking enclave in the Romansh dominated Val Lumnezia (Valley of Light). The people of Vals migrated from Upper Valais some 700 years ago and settled in the highest alpine valleys of Grisons.
The village center is called Vals-Platz and lies at an altitude of 1,252 meters above sea level. Throughout the municipality of Vals, you can still find many farms which in former times were inhabited in all year round but now they are usually only used as spring and fall pastures.
Besides Vals-Platz, the only places that are still inhabited all year round are Camp, Leis, and Valé. As required by law for half a century, houses and barns are still roofed with stone tiles. And although a lot of new buildings have gone up in the past few years, there are parts of the village that still seem intact and undisturbed.
