Mountain Monk Yoga Retreats India Program

Shanka Prakshalana is a yogic technique of voluntary washing of the gastro-intestinal-tract (GIT). The GIT begins at the mouth and involves the whole alimentary canal. This method of GST washing is a thorough process of cleansing stomach, intestine, colon, and rectum. This has to be performed under the supervision of a skilled guide.

The thorough cleansing of nearly 30 feet of gastro-intestinal tract from within permits the process of absorption, assimilation, and excretion to function optimally. In a clinical setting, the useful effects of GIT washing are manifold for divergent conditions including diabetes, boils, acne, worms infestation, indigestion, chronic dysentery, constipation, muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, cancer, and so forth.

The action of GIT washing of the bowel is much more powerful than laxative and purgatives, which take more time to induce their effects and are addictive. The act of GIT washing has proven to be a practicable, low cost alternative to dialysis, and also as a sufficient treatment alone for kidney patients as well.

Importance of GIT cleansing

Poor elimination can lead to many chronic diseases such as constipation, diarrhea, mucus colitis, liver sluggishness, headaches, flatulence, hemorrhoids, skin problems (acne and eczema), abdominal bloating, asthma, allergies, fatigue, depression, and lethargy. There is a brain behind gut feelings. The brain in the gut plays a major role in human happiness and misery, but few people know it exists. Health and sickness both have their roots in the colon. A healthy gut contributes to a healthy mind.
