Liz and Ross will kick off the weekend with a soothing blend of Restorative yoga and Thai massage. Janna will guide you through a ‘do-it-yourself’ detox class with hands-on herbal elixirs and live food juices. Irina will introduce you to the fundamentals of mindfulness practice and walking meditation. Pamper yourself with a vibrant menu of clean, wholesome vegetarian food and a journey through the world of yoga, mindfulness, and wellness.
Nirvana Retreats was established in 2007 by Madhavendra, dedicated organizer of Meditation Toronto. She and her husband, Allen, created a hidden gem of a retreat center just minutes from downtown Toronto.
Formally known as Adjalila Gardens, this beautiful retreat center features an infrared sauna, an artesian spring fed swimming pond, a yoga barn, which has been beautifully restored with a bright yoga and meditation room and dining hall, and a variety of accommodations including two cabins and four rooms in the main house as well as the option for tent on the property.
Nirvana Retreats is a place where new friends are made. Learn how to do your own detox at home, discover the methods, the pitfalls, and dispel the myths. This class will provide you with tools to take the power of your health into your own hands, along with recipes, and local resources. The discussion will be followed by a hands-on herbal elixir and live food juice class.
In this class, you will be introduced to the basic principles of mindfulness meditation practice, from breath work to focusing techniques. You will spend half of the class learning the foundations and the second portion will be spent exploring the beautiful premises of the retreat centre on a serene walking meditation (weather permitting).

Relax deeper into passive yoga poses. Start the weekend by connecting your body with your breath and allowing the loving kindness “Metta” of Thai massage to ease you into poses and reach a profound level of mental quietude.
Owner of Nirvana Retreats and former owner of Urban Nirvana, a Thai massage and yoga spa in downtown Toronto, Liz is a yoga instructor, skilled Thai massage practitioner, currently working on her RMT certification. In a society that values fast pace and long hours, she is honored to help people reconnect with their bodies and quiet their minds.
Ross Edmunds is a licensed holistic practitioner who trained at the Lotus Palm School of Thai Yoga Massage then completed an internship at an authentic Thai massage spa in Toronto where he continued to acquire and practice advanced Thai massage techniques. Ross maintains a Thai yoga massage practice at Moksha Yoga Danforth where he also regularly leads Restorative and Thai yoga massage workshops. He is a compassionate practitioner who works to address his clients individual needs through a responsive touch and Metta (loving kindness).
For the last 15 years, herbalist, yoga instructor, and holistic therapist, Janna Shapero, has been empowering the stressed and weary city dwellers towards taking better care of themselves. She runs a private practice and consultation service in the Toronto area.
Passionate about helping people reconnect with their authentic being, Irina, has gone through a variety of holistic training, most recently completing a program in spiritual psychotherapy. Irina also holds certifications in nutrition, Reiki, life coaching, yoga, and Thai massage. Her education and experience in wellness consulting have given Irina a well-rounded understanding of why working with all the elements of your being (physical, mental, spiritual and emotional) is integral in achieving long lasting results in the quest to a fulfilling and more meaningful life.
This retreat will take place in Nirvana Retreats, a secluded and lush 14-acre property just one hour from Toronto.
Daily vegetarian meals are included in the price. Pamper yourself with a vibrant menu of clean, wholesome vegetarian food.
There are a variety of activities for health and wellness within your stay. Relax and enjoy the peaceful nature of the countryside or lose track of time and technology while exploring the gardens and grounds. You can also have a professional Thai massage during your stay.
A fun and easy-to-learn Thai massage workshop is included in the price. An extra Thai massage session is available for an additional 80 USD per hour
