When our bodies are out of balance it affects all parts of our lives, from our physical health, our relationships, energy levels and weight, to the way we manage stress and how we feel about ourselves. If you feel you are ready for a real life transformation, to listen, rest and reset your body and learn how to make changes to continue living a healthy lifestyle after your time at Petrichor Farms, this retreat could be just the right one for you!
Set in the beautiful abundance of the Dooars region, Petrichor's farm yoga retreat is a combination of nature meets nurture that provides just enough comfort to meet your needs, yet maintains the adventurous free spirit of living in a forest farm.
This Farm Yoga Retreat is a restorative program that aims to rejuvenate and holistically relax your mind, body and soul by merging the regenerative functions of yoga with the regenerative principles of Permaculture in following the true yogic path of ‘farming’ both our outer and inner landscapes. Besides being a system of agricultural and social design principles, permaculture also provides us with ample thinking tools for an era of change. Petrichor actively seeks out ways to practice these principles, while balancing the needs of the farm and community, and this beautiful philosophy can be seen in many ways throughout the land. This retreat entails daily yoga practice and daily practical permaculture workshops and activities.
The yoga therapy at Petrichor Farm is a mix of Hatha, breathwork and body alignment techniques. All programs and the retreat will be led by Sweta and Sidhartha, certified teachers and designers.
The retreat includes one nature trail through a Nepali Village, leading into the beautiful Ambiok Forest.
This retreat takes place in Gorubathan, also known as Sombare, which is one of the towns situated in the Kalimpong sub-division of Darjeeling district, in West Bengal, India. The town owes its name to the weekly village market that is held on every Monday, known as Sombar. Lava and Faforkheti are some of the major tourist attractions in Gorubathan. These destinations are popular for adventure activities like trekking, hiking and mountain climbing.
One's holistic wellness is a result of what one eats and hence foods that heal must be consumed. The principles of permaculture follow the principles of the slow food movement – ethical food production, ethical food consumption and connections to all aspects of life. The nourishment Petrichor Farm serves to their guests and volunteers is plant-based, seasonal food, all grown lovingly by them in their organic permaculture gardens. They aim to preserve cultural cuisine and so they are preserving the food plants and seeds, domestic animals and farming within their eco region.
The food served during the retreat is satvik and plant-based, which works as a wonderful alkalizing detoxifier to the system. They also offer separate raw, vegan and ayurvedic items, upon request.
Please book your flight to arrive at Bagdogra Airport (IXB), which is located about 16 kilometers west of Siliguri. State and private buses are available from Siliguri to reach to Gorubathan.
