Each room is equipped with an ozone generator, ultrasonic humidifying aromatherapy diffuser for essential oils, FAR infrared heaters, TV, and Wi-Fi coverage. They also have an apartment in a neighbouring house owned and built by them that offers two additional bedrooms, one of which is a double; the other bedroom is a twin for two sharing. This apartment is ideal for families or to accommodate a group of guests coming together, allowing for a little separation for any who prefer, giving you a little more privacy.
This apartment is situated on the clinic site but is separated by a short walk. This apartment offers great views much the same as at the clinic; in fact some say it has slightly better views than those found on the clinic site. The apartment consists of two bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower, open plan living area and kitchenette, a log burner, TV, and Wi-Fi coverage. It also has its own BBQ and patio area and a large covered south / south-east facing terrace.
Our accommodation is based on a shared arrangement or can be for couples; for single occupancy is possible at extra charge. Each room has two single beds that can be made into doubles.
This is the timetable of a typical day you might expect during your retreat. Of course, there is no pressure, as all activities are optional. You can pick and choose which activities you wish to participate in.
The scheduled program runs for six out of the seven days you are here. The free day is really a day of reflection, more time for relaxation, sauna, swimming, sunbathing, walking, exercising in the gym, or spending time in the hot tub.
During your stay, on one of the days, you will go on an excursion to visit one of the many beautiful places in the vicinity. Close by, you will have a couple of big reservoirs lakes, Calanda and Santolea, ideal for long distance swimming. The two rivers, the Guadalupe and the Bergantes have natural pools with crystal clear water and giant rocks perfect for diving off and sunbathing. The surrounding villages of Castellote with its Templar Castle overlooking the village on the mountain top and Molinos with its intriguing Cristal Caves are both a short drive away. Another impressive site is the Pitarque River source, with cascading freezing water and its raw landscape.

Physionatural is located at the doors of the Maestrazgo region, a beautiful area of Spain, set on the Iberic Mountain Range. Although they are in remote location access to them is easy. They are in a very rural area of Teruel, one of the most unpopulated regions of Spain. The clinic is two kilometers from the nearest village, Mas de las Matas.
The center stands on its own, with no immediate neighbors and sits in quiet and beautiful surroundings, overlooking the Guadalupe River valley and the Iberic Mountains, an ideal spot if you want to relax in a peaceful and natural environment.
This area is blessed with an amazing array of both flora and fauna, beautiful aromatic herbs, flowers, wildlife, mountain goats, wild boars, vultures, eagles, and kestrels. In the summer months, in particular, they are visited by amazing birdlife with swallows, bee-eaters, hoopoes, black redstarts, as well as green and great spotted woodpeckers to name but a few.
The region has great geological interest also with the surrounding landscapes that appear almost unpopulated, waiting to be explored. The Guadalupe River valley stretches from the edge of the property with plenty of footpaths for walks or hikes. Within a 10 minute drive, you can visit the two surrounding lakes, Calanda and Santolea, ideal locations for a bit of swimming. Also close, you can visit the Bergantes River, a beautiful canyon where you can enjoy a swim in natural clear pools or sunbathing on the giant rocks that line this canyon or visit the beautiful Cristal Caves in Molinos.
For those with interest, the local area is rich in Templar heritage with Templar Churches in Castellote and Bordon or the spectacular remains of a Templar Castle positioned on top of the mountain range that overlooks the village Castellote.
If you are tempted by Spanish tradition, there are many festivals throughout the year in the many neighboring villages; Alcorisa, Alcañiz, and Calanda where the Route de Tambor begins with drum playing processions and parades an amazing experience indeed. They are also very close to Alcañiz Motorland Race Track situated approximately 30 minutes away.
The restaurant offers you nutrient dense and delicious food that really is medicinal. Give your body what it needs with an abundance of fresh fruit, green leafy vegetables, and whole superfoods; packed full of healthy healing properties to supply revitalizing nutrients to your body.
The focus is on eating a super-clean plant-based diet of unrefined, gut-friendly alkalizing and anti-inflammatory foods. The menus are varied and served directly to your table and can accommodate to sugar, dairy and gluten free diets, depending on the needs of each individual.
The type of food offered is ancestral, traditional, and specifically tweaked for optimal health. The cuisine resembles gourmet cooking, slightly French in style and more balanced than a Paleolithic diet. The restaurant also likes for you to experience the traditions from all over the world, tasting the variety of healthy cuisine that other societies can offer. They only use gentle and slow cooking methods to retain the quality and enhance the flavour.
For the most part, the restaurant uses seasonal foods that retain their natural essence and quality. Grass fed, organic beef and lamb is available to those here who are not detoxing and for those whose metabolic type requires. The menu includes a variety of fresh fish that has been caught an hour away and bought in the same day.
The restaurant also has great vegetarian choices available, as these foods are predominantly used to reduce the stress on the body and help in the detox process. All food is served fresh, prepared and cooked daily on the premises, with care and loving attention. They do not use microwaves, as they only use non toxic cookware and avoid plastics and only use chlorine and fluoride free water.
The menus vary through the seasons with summer and spring menus being lighter and include more uncooked dishes, whereas the winter menus include more cooked foods. All food is included in the cost of your retreat. For those of you who are detoxing, all juices, smoothies, and bone broths are freshly made every day.
Now, everyone loves something sweet from time to time, but here, they try to keep it healthy. Twice a week (for those not on the three day fast), you can indulge yourselves, just a little, with cakes and puddings mostly sugar and gluten free, like the wonderful carrot cake or the apple cinnamon nut bread or the cranberry and rosehip compote.
For those who have a savory preference, there are also a tasty variety of dishes, most vegetarian, some not, that are going to just tickle your taste buds and leave you content and ready for your siesta.
The restaurant does have a planned menu from week to week, but as they grow some of their own vegetables, they sometimes need to be spontaneous in the food for that day; that is the wonder of cooking, to utilize what you have, to sometimes create new combinations, depending on what's in great abundance at the time. However, they are sure you will love eating with them, discovering the wonders of food creation and consumption, like the wonderful Baba Ganoush Dip, or Avocado and Garlic Spread, or from the main menu, they offer vegetarian dishes like the Roasted Pumpkin with Herb and Mushroom Sauce, or the Quinoa ‘Fried Rice’ with Carrots, Spinach and Roasted Sunflower Seeds or if you enjoy a little meat (served, depending on the requirements of the guests) try the tasty Beef and Arugula Stir Fry or the amazing Ginger-Lime Cod, oven baked in parchment.
