During this retreat, you will be accommodated at Villa Varia in either a shared yurt, yoga room, or double room. This villa is situated in a beautiful natural reserve close to the Pellenberg Hospital, but is at the same time easily accessible from Leuven and Tienen. The energetic place which has come to exist here is described by others as a home, an oasis, and a place to find peace.

This place has come into existence very organically both through the cooperation with Japjeet, who runs a three-day retreat every four to six weeks, and through the Kundalini yoga level one training ran by Hari Krishan Singh.

You can choose between accommodation in yurt or yoga room, case in which you have to bring your own towels, bedding, and mattress, or accommodation in shared room, case in which the towels, bedding, and mattress are included.

In this retreat, you will be working on bringing balance and harmony between different sets of polarities namely inside and outside, self and other, microcosm and macrocosm, individual consciousness and universal consciousness, body, mind, and soul, sun and moon, yin and yang, day and night, male and female energy, rejuvenation and relaxation, exercise and rest, doing and being, giving and receiving, and pursuing and allowing to be.

All these points will be explored and targeted so that you can find balance in the rhythm of life and be deeply at ease. The tools you will be using for this re-balancing work are Kundalini yoga and meditation, mantra chanting, Yoga Nidra, breath walks, time spent outside in nature, reflection, contemplation, and organic food and recipes from the yogic and Ayurvedic tradition. The program will be held daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Japjeet will also share knowledge on how nature can nurture you and how you can nurture nature in return, and on how this can be done in a respectful interplay from which both you and mother earth may benefit. She will provide you information on natural health care and share recipes for making your own cleaning and body-care products. This way, you can reduce toxic effects on your and your family’s systems while reducing your environmental impact.

  • Japjeet Rajbir Kaur Khalsa

    Japjeet Rajbir Kaur is a full-time KRI and IKYTA-certified Kundalini Yoga (KY) teacher. She is also an intern teacher trainer of the KRI Aquarian Trainer Academy. She has been teaching KY since 2008, both in Belgium and in the UK (where she resides). Over the past years she has specialised in, amongst others, KY for stress-management, burnout, depression and anxiety; addiction recovery; pre- and postnatal yoga; and men’s, women's and relationships teachings. Japjeet is also a nutrition & health coach, life & yoga coach, and aroma & massage therapist.

This retreat will take place in Pellenberg, Belgium. Pellenberg is a small town located in the western-most part of the municipality of Lubbeek, in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant.

All three daily meals are included in this retreat. Each day, you will be served vegan, vegetarian, organic, and gluten-free meals made with fresh ingredients. You will also be served tea and snacks such as fruit, nuts, and homemade cakes. Prabhu Anand Kaur, the host of Villa Varia, is a professional cook. If there are any allergies or food intolerance, you can let her know well in advance. Bringing or preparing your own food in the villa is not allowed.

Explore Leuven

Leuven is one of Belgium's finest medieval cities and the oldest university town in Europe, with its university library serving as a landmark in the city. You can visit the world-renowned Grand Béguinage, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the M Leuven, a renowned inner-city museum.

Visit the Castle de Maurissens

The eclectic Castle de Maurissens is named after its noble patron dating back from 1916. Since 1949, the castle lies within the park property of the Catholic University of Leuven.

Visit the Saint Peter's Church of Leuven

The Saint Peter's Church of Leuven is situated on the city's Grote Markt, or main market square, right across the ornate town hall. It was built mainly in the 15th century in Brabantine Gothic style. The church has a cruciform floor plan and a 93-meter long low bell tower that has never been completed.

Villa Varia is eight kilometers away from the Leuven railway station. From the airport, there is a direct train to Leuven station which only takes around 15 minutes.

You can also take a 24-minute train ride from the Brussels Midi train station to Leuven station, while the Brussels North station is only a 15-minute train ride away.

Arrival by bus

You can take the De Lijn bus 3 from Leuven station to the Pellenberg Hospital, which is within walking distance to the venue.

    ""This 'Excel & Celebrate' programme has opened up a new world for me! It has given deeper meaning to my 'womanhood'. For the first time in my life I was told that a woman has eleven moon points and that the energy changes from moon point to moon point every two and a half days, in a fixed pattern that repeats itself every month. I learned that we can make our own personal graph which can help us so much, for example in planning our daily life (when to make important decisions and when not to, e.g. not when the moon energy is in a point that renders us insecure). I learned that this moon cycle is also the reason why men find us women so hard to fathom - because it makes us so complex. At least once a week I flip through the manual and every time I again feel the energy that we created as a group!     "After having practiced Hatha Yoga for three years, I encountered Kundalini Yoga. What an immense difference! The difference doesn't just lie in the yoga form as such - which is much more dynamic - but mostly in its effects. I can see why Kundalini Yoga is called the mother form of yoga. Yoga, for me, is a way of release, it's where I can get rid of stress, where I can accept the past and be in the here and now. Where I can take some time out for myself. And believe me, that feels so good! I also attended Japjeet Kaur's women's program 'Excel & Celebrate.' I'm a rather introvert person, but I'm glad I decided to join that workshop. I learned so much about myself there, understood so much more about myself afterwards. I was surrounded by such kind, warm, loving people. We did some beautiful 'processes'. There were tears of sadness and support, but also of love, happiness and joy. I also discovered that sometimes there is so much pain and suffering 'hidden' where on the outside you would just see a strong, cheerful person. I'm not alone! The inspiring words from this program 'I Am a Woman, I Am Divine' and 'Bountiful, Blissful and Beautiful', are still with me."
