The Sanctuary offers several options for private, semi-private, or shared rooms.

Ascension room

The ascension room is one of the shared rooms on the second story. It has three single beds and a single-size bunk bed. A stay in this room is the standard offering. Guests staying in the ascension room share the upstairs bathroom with guests staying in the healing and nirvana rooms. There are two bathrooms downstairs that can also be used.

Healing room

Facing east, the healing room invites the rejuvenating morning sunshine. It has one queen-size bed and a single bed can be added to accommodate up to three people. Guests staying in the healing room share the upstairs bathroom with guests staying in the ascension and nirvana rooms. There are two bathrooms downstairs that can also be used.

Light room (recreational vehicle motorhome)

This is used as an option for guests. The vehicle was made in 1997 and is in good condition. The body of the motorhome is 21 feet long. It has a double bed across the cab, a sofa (which pulls out to a small double bed), and a table with seats. Its bathroom is not in use but the terrace of the main house and a bathroom is a few steps from it. It also has a kitchen area but food preparation is not allowed as you will eat communally and the food will be prepared in the house. There is lots of storage space and a tarpaulin over the top to create shade.

Love casita

Located in the backyard next to The Sanctuary garden, the standalone love casita offers the most privacy. It has its own separate entrance gate and can also be accessed through the garden. The love casita has its own shaded rooftop space to relax, read a book, or watch the sunset. It has a queen-size bed for one or two people, and a single bed can be added to accommodate a third person.

Peace room

The peace room has a queen-size bed and a single-size bunk bed so it can accommodate up to four people. It is separated in two using a room divider. One half is sometimes used for therapies during the daytime at which time guests staying in the peace room are asked to use other private spaces at The Sanctuary to relax. The peace room is located next to the open living space for meditation and workshops. There are two bathrooms downstairs that can be used by guests staying in this room.

Mandala master suite

The mandala room is the most luxurious room at The Sanctuary, with its own luxury full bathroom and a large private balcony overlooking the garden. Facing east, it is blessed with the vibrant morning sunlight and the evening freshness when it's time to wind down and relax. The room has a queen-size bed for one or two people, and a single or another queen-size bed can be added to accommodate a third or fourth person.

Nirvana room

Facing west, the nirvana room benefits from the lingering energy of the ocean sunsets. It has one queen-size bed and a single-size bunk bed that can accommodate up to three or four people. Guests staying in the nirvana room share the upstairs bathroom with guests staying in the ascension and healing rooms. There are two bathrooms downstairs that can also be used.

In your spare time, you’re more than welcome to access the beautiful beaches, use the far infrared ray sauna, and access the various healing modalities described below.

Breath work

Breath work sessions are a complete self-healing system using conscious breath to facilitate improved well-being, inner peace, and greater joy in life. At The Sanctuary recorded audio-guided breath sessions in a group are offered. These sessions, facilitated by one a staff member, not only help to oxygenate the body and therefore help to heal physical disease, but also can be transformational on other levels. They usually last for seventy-five to ninety minutes, including sharing about the experience afterwards in a heart circle.

Dry skin brushing

Dry skin brushing is another excellent way to stimulate the lymphatic system to help remove toxins from the body. Dry skin brushing stimulates your body from the outside in. It works to cleanse the whole system and is an effective treatment for many ailments. Accumulated waste products in the body are known to contribute to many illnesses as well as premature aging. Dry skin brushing also increases blood circulation, which helps to contribute to healthier muscle tone and better distribution of fat deposits, also known to many as cellulite.

Enema boards

Many of the guests learn about the huge benefits to health of colon cleansing. The Sanctuary has enema boards for this purpose.

Far infrared ray (FIR) sauna

At The Sanctuary you will find a relaxing far infrared ray sauna which produces far infrared ray energy at four to fourteen microns, which reaches deep into the body, even into the bone marrow.

FIR sauna therapy is reported to be one of the safest and most powerful ways to eliminate toxic metals, toxic chemicals, and chronic infections. It helps with weight loss, detoxification, pain relief, cancer, candida, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, fibromyalgia, heart disease, and much more.

Every Sunday, many people at the Sanctuary decide to fast on water, coconut water, or fruit. Although not required, this practice is highly recommended.

Feet soak

This basic feet soak will leave your feet and body feeling great! The ions in the salt work as magnets to draw toxins through the skin of your feet and out of your body into the water. The following ingredients are used in the soaks: one cup of Epsom salt, one cup of sea salt, and two of cups baking soda. Many of the guests report great benefits from soaking their feet daily for a week.

Meditation, yoga, and relaxation

These practices are essential to healing. At the sanctuary, you will meditate early every morning from Monday to Saturday, then practice yoga on the rooftop palapa.

At meal times everyone says grace, offering gratitude for and blessing the food, so that it may nourish you and give you the energy to be a positive force in the world.

Mineral miracle supplement

Mineral miracle supplement or MMS is a 22.8% solution of sodium chlorite, activated with an acid to produce chlorine dioxide gas which destroys pathogens, some viruses, and chelates heavy metals from the body.

The normal mineral miracle supplement cleanse lasts for 21 days. It has proven extremely effective for many guests at the sanctuary.

Oil pulling

Testimonial: "I rinse my mouth with oil every morning, and it has transformed my body. This ancient practice of washing out with your mouth with oil every morning, or even three times a day, has completely detoxed my body."

Come enjoy the rebounder at the Sanctuary and experience high energy and loads of other benefits.

Shanka prakshalana

Shanka prakshalana is a yogic practice of cleansing the intestines using salt water.

Supportive supplements and substances

You will have access to dimethyl sulfoxide, borax, magnesium chloride, malic acid, and diatomacious earth.

The presence process and radical forgiveness

You can learn more about these practices to grow spiritually.

This retreat will take place in The Sanctuary, which is located in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Driving directions from Puerto Escondido

Coming from the Puerto Escondido city center, heading on the highway in the direction of Pochutla and Huatulco, take the first turn right to La Punta, at Rubi's mini-super.

At the bottom of the hill turn left into Brisas de Zicatela heading away from the sea (do not turn right towards Casa Mar and the sea), go past Internet Zicatela and take the second turn left into Quintana Roo Street.

You will then see our beautiful house half a block ahead of you.

Alternatively, on the highway, you could continue past Rubi's mini-super and take the first concrete road turn right into Quintana Roo street. You will however see The Sanctuary sign on the corner. Continue one and a half blocks and you will see the house.

Arrival by airplane

It is recommended that you arrive at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), then, transfer to Bahías de Huatulco International Airport (HUX) or Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM).

Arrival by taxi

You can take an airport approved dedicated white taxi at a cost of around 150 MXN. Or, you can take an airport approved shared taxi for about 70 MXN. You can get one of these from immediately outside of the airport door.

Alternatively, you can walk to the highway (approximately 700 meters from the airport exit), and cross the road to get a green and white taxi at a cost of 40 to 50 MXN.

Or, from the highway, wave down a maroon and white shared taxi or a collectivo (pick up truck with canopy over the back and bench seats inside). Both of these cost 6 MXN.

A peaceful spot in a tiny surf town

CONS Cons: I would say this is more of a spiritual healing centre as opposed to a yoga retreat. Although we did yoga a few times the focus seemed more on meditation specifically kundalini yoga and chanting. Not nec bad but good for people to know going in. Sometimes the schedule would change without you knowing but we were warned of that.

PROS Pros: I had such a relaxing time at The Sanctuary! The rooftop was perfect for yoga, meditation and hammock naps. There was lots of free time to do what you wanted during the day and the schedule was very flexible. The people were kind and accommodating. The food was always plentiful and wholesome, I left meals feeling full but not weighed down! It's such a short walk to the beach and I felt very safe as a solo lady traveller heading out in my own. Some other beautiful spots around which you can can to.

    Un endroit à part

    CONS Cons: Rien

" The Sanctuary - Vegan Community and Health RetreatsThe Sanctuary was a great experience for me, I went on a solo mission and opted for the shared accommodation. The people that I met at The Sanctuary will forever live In my heart. The days are structured to allow a lot of time to explore and enjoy your time in the beautiful Puerto Escondido. The sunsets, the beaches, the little hippie surf spots, the scenery. It's amazing. There are a lot of dogs that like to bark at night but it's something that you just become used to. The food is absolutely amazing, Connie is very talented, it didn't even feel like I was eating "vegan," the one thing I would do is go back and help in the kitchen to learn her amazing recipes. The practitioners that are offered are by far the best I've had in years. Thank you Peter and everyone who touched my soul for the lovely experience. "

"Great experience! Good food and people. This is a good place to be creative in your healing and restoration as it does not follow any one meditation, yoga approach, or healing methodology. It is not upscale so don't expect fancy, instead expect good vegan food and a chance for self-reflection. Happy to be here, Anna. "

"I stayed at Sanctuary for five weeks. What a wonderful experience. Eating Vegan for that time was a real treat. My objective was three fold: lower blood sugar (cut carbs and walking), loose weight (vegetables), and improve flexibility (yoga). I'm please to report that I was very successful in all three. I was amazed to discover how varied and tasty a vegan diet can be. The chef prepares the meals each day with the help of contributing guests."

"Peter (owner) and all the myriad of guest made my stay so very pleasant. Anyone looking to recharge and renew must include a stay at Sanctuary. Plan to stay awhile, you'll be glad you did. The pricing options which allow you to contribute your time to reduce your cost are exceptional. I can go on and on about what a wonderful experience it is to stay here."

"The long beautiful beach is a short walk away and features surf and awesome sunsets. The climate is just right. Also, as you may expect, the photos exactly represent the property as I found it. Do yourself a favor, plan to visit Sanctuary. I know I'll be back again. "

"Staying at The Sanctuary changed my life. I thought I was only in for some health juices and learning a little yoga and meditation on the beach, but instead I had the chance to become a part of a community working together in learning and teaching. I've never felt so good physically as I did during my two week stay at The Sanctuary, thanks to the breathing work, the yoga, and the healthy diet. I thought I would never survive without meat or cheese, but instead it was actually really easy! Everyone that was staying there was very supportive, and I couldn't have had such a great experience without the staff and crew. Thank you so much! "

"The Sanctuary is a healing place in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. It is a place where people share different ways to try to achieve a harmony between body, mind and spirit. Lots of things happened since I arrived: challenges, laughter, tears, thousands of emotions, incredible food, amazing workshops, beautiful people, thousands of learnings and of course, the beauty of mother nature. Each second is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, the others and the Oneness. Here, we try to do our best to build a healing community and share with the people interested. You have meditation, yoga, dance, chanting, retreats, rituals, fasting, and so many others possibilities. Everything and everyone is really interconnected, so if you feel the calling in your heart, please take the time to come to this beautiful place surrounded by incredible beaches and to try to heal yourself while you heal the world at the same time."
