During this retreat, you will stay in a private room at The Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is housed in a luxurious colonial style five-bedroom house set within a walled garden in a peaceful neighborhood. The Sanctuary offers a choice of private or shared rooms. Despite their own unique energy, the rooms offer proper personal space, comfort, tranquility, and inspiration.

The mandala master suite

The mandala master suite is the most luxurious room at The Sanctuary. It has a queen bed, its own luxury bathroom with bathtub and shower, as well as a large private balcony looking over the garden. Facing east, it has that vibrant light from the morning sun as well as the evening freshness when it's time to relax. Large windows and fans help this to be the coolest room in the house.

This is a personal retreat that will give you time to meditate, to reflect, and to integrate stuck emotions. Maybe you want to break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to relax and recuperate. Perhaps you yearn for something beyond the mundane and you want to explore your inner world. You feel like delving deep into a meditation or yoga practice.

Maybe you're experiencing transitions and wish to develop a new passion, find some direction, realize your purpose in life, and even learn to surf while you are there. During this retreat, you will enjoy two daily yoga classes and meditation sessions, evening sessions that may include meditation, a heart circle, breath work, Tibetan bowls, or a conscious movie session.

You will also enjoy body therapies or massages, surf lessons, horse riding and stand up paddle boarding activities, excursions through the Manultapec Lagoon, waterfalls, and nature reserves.

  • Ma Prem Neelam

Ma Prem Neelam currently offers Tui Na massage, an oriental bodywork therapy which has been used in China for over 2,000 years. It is the oldest massage used in traditional Chinese medicine. Tui Na literaly means "push and grab". This technique stimulates acupuncture points by using pressure. It balances the flow of "chi" in the body and harmonizes its natural energy flow.

This retreat will take place at The Sanctuary in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Puerto Escondido, in the estate of Oaxaca, combines the most exciting elements of the Mexican Pacific Ocean. Its mountains roll down towards the sea to bathe in the deep blue waters creating a fascinating landscape.

You will find restaurants, bars, galleries, and music festivals. There are several beaches in Puerto Escondido, some more swimmable than others. Puerto's most famous beach, Zicatela, is great for surfing but not usually for swimming. Playa Marinero, Carrizalillo, Puerto Angelito, and Manzanillo beach are usually swimmable. La Punta is a walking distance from The Sanctuary and is quite swimmable at times.

In this retreat, you will enjoy a daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and unlimited fruit snacks. All meals at The Sanctuary are vegan, nutritious, delicious, and healing. The Sanctuary is a plant-based household serving mostly raw and gluten-free foods. Please ask in advance if you have any specific dietary restrictions so The Sanctuary can let you know if the kitchen can handle your request.

The normal menu consists of a large green smoothie for breakfast sometimes with one or more tonics that may include ginger, moringa, turmeric, agnihotra ash, cardamon, cinnamon, aloe vera, cayenne, cloves, among others. Healthy vegan food is made for lunch and dinner. All meals are homemade with lots of love.

Although avoiding snacking between meals might be more supportive to the healing process, for those who wish, The Sanctuary usually supplies a mid morning nutritional snack, and either a mid afternoon drink or fresh fruit.

Please be aware that the kitchen is not available for guests use. No coffee, meat, fish, processed junk foods, or dairy products are allowed at The Sanctuary. If you are not used to such a clean diet, you may experience detox symptoms such as flu-like feelings, body aches and pains, headaches, tiredness, or emotional outbreaks. As you eat more higher vibration foods, the old lower vibration energies in your body will release in physical and emotional forms. The symptoms may be reduced by following some of the healing modalities which are included in the price of your stay.

Fasting on Sunday

The Sanctuary has a fast on Sundays with water, coconut water, or fruit for several reasons. Fasting gives your digestive system a rest and provides an opportunity to focus on the spiritual. Although not required, if fruit or coconut water is not enough for you, you can visit one of the many nearby restaurants, this practice is beneficial for the majority of the guests. No food preparation is done on Sundays.

During your free time, you can take part of several activities such as taking an additional surfing lesson, swimming, boating, or simply relax under a palm tree. You can also choose to do some volunteer work at The Sanctuary or book one of their massages.

You will be staying close to Puerto's most famous beach, Zicatela, which is great for surfing. You can also visit Playa Marinero, Carrizalillo, Puerto Angelito, and Manzanillo beach which are usually swimmable.

This retreat includes a daily massage or body treatment at The Sanctuary. You can book one of the following treatments:

A peaceful spot in a tiny surf town

CONS Cons: I would say this is more of a spiritual healing centre as opposed to a yoga retreat. Although we did yoga a few times the focus seemed more on meditation specifically kundalini yoga and chanting. Not nec bad but good for people to know going in. Sometimes the schedule would change without you knowing but we were warned of that.

PROS Pros: I had such a relaxing time at The Sanctuary! The rooftop was perfect for yoga, meditation and hammock naps. There was lots of free time to do what you wanted during the day and the schedule was very flexible. The people were kind and accommodating. The food was always plentiful and wholesome, I left meals feeling full but not weighed down! It's such a short walk to the beach and I felt very safe as a solo lady traveller heading out in my own. Some other beautiful spots around which you can can to.

    Un endroit à part

    CONS Cons: Rien

" The Sanctuary - Vegan Community and Health RetreatsThe Sanctuary was a great experience for me, I went on a solo mission and opted for the shared accommodation. The people that I met at The Sanctuary will forever live In my heart. The days are structured to allow a lot of time to explore and enjoy your time in the beautiful Puerto Escondido. The sunsets, the beaches, the little hippie surf spots, the scenery. It's amazing. There are a lot of dogs that like to bark at night but it's something that you just become used to. The food is absolutely amazing, Connie is very talented, it didn't even feel like I was eating "vegan," the one thing I would do is go back and help in the kitchen to learn her amazing recipes. The practitioners that are offered are by far the best I've had in years. Thank you Peter and everyone who touched my soul for the lovely experience. "

"Great experience! Good food and people. This is a good place to be creative in your healing and restoration as it does not follow any one meditation, yoga approach, or healing methodology. It is not upscale so don't expect fancy, instead expect good vegan food and a chance for self-reflection. Happy to be here, Anna. "

"I stayed at Sanctuary for five weeks. What a wonderful experience. Eating Vegan for that time was a real treat. My objective was three fold: lower blood sugar (cut carbs and walking), loose weight (vegetables), and improve flexibility (yoga). I'm please to report that I was very successful in all three. I was amazed to discover how varied and tasty a vegan diet can be. The chef prepares the meals each day with the help of contributing guests."

"Peter (owner) and all the myriad of guest made my stay so very pleasant. Anyone looking to recharge and renew must include a stay at Sanctuary. Plan to stay awhile, you'll be glad you did. The pricing options which allow you to contribute your time to reduce your cost are exceptional. I can go on and on about what a wonderful experience it is to stay here."

"The long beautiful beach is a short walk away and features surf and awesome sunsets. The climate is just right. Also, as you may expect, the photos exactly represent the property as I found it. Do yourself a favor, plan to visit Sanctuary. I know I'll be back again. "

"Staying at The Sanctuary changed my life. I thought I was only in for some health juices and learning a little yoga and meditation on the beach, but instead I had the chance to become a part of a community working together in learning and teaching. I've never felt so good physically as I did during my two week stay at The Sanctuary, thanks to the breathing work, the yoga, and the healthy diet. I thought I would never survive without meat or cheese, but instead it was actually really easy! Everyone that was staying there was very supportive, and I couldn't have had such a great experience without the staff and crew. Thank you so much! "

"The Sanctuary is a healing place in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. It is a place where people share different ways to try to achieve a harmony between body, mind and spirit. Lots of things happened since I arrived: challenges, laughter, tears, thousands of emotions, incredible food, amazing workshops, beautiful people, thousands of learnings and of course, the beauty of mother nature. Each second is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, the others and the Oneness. Here, we try to do our best to build a healing community and share with the people interested. You have meditation, yoga, dance, chanting, retreats, rituals, fasting, and so many others possibilities. Everything and everyone is really interconnected, so if you feel the calling in your heart, please take the time to come to this beautiful place surrounded by incredible beaches and to try to heal yourself while you heal the world at the same time."
