This week brought me so much more than I'd expected. The location was beautiful, the teachers were amazing and the atmosphere was really relax. I also did the Ayurveda course witch gave me so much information about Ayurveda and that way of life. The doctor has so much knowledge and patience to explain you everything and you learn a lot about yourself.

Vedic Arogya Ashram is a special place that is welcoming, peaceful and full of love. Bhakta is very kind and caring and I had a wonderful experience at the ashram. I learnt a lot about yoga, pranayama and meditation. I did the ayurvedic course as well and I got a lot out of this too! Being at the ashram was a rejuvenationg, relaxing and positive experience! The food is delicious!

I liked that the timetable had a structure to it but you could pick and choose what you wanted to do.

I loved the food! Always enough food, big portions, delicious Nepalese food!

I loved the location it was so quiet an peaceful and nice to be in nature after dusty Kathmandu.

I loved the people, even though it was fleeting.

I loved trying new yoga practices as well, the yoga was new to me!

The happy song was lovely too!!

A bit more communication would have been nice about how the place functions. I didn't really get an introduction, just shown to my room then to the food where everyone was eating and that was it. It would be nice to be shown the toilets and showers and explain how things work.

Also the beds were so hard I got bruises on my hips, a little bit more cushioning would be great!! :)

The most beautiful thing was the spirit of the ashram. Very positive, simple, loving, caring and sharing. You can just be yourself there. Very relaxing place and you have the freedom to choose the activities you want to do. Very supportive environment. The nature around makes the place so peaceful with fresh air. They do their best to make you happy. One big family. Thank you so much for everything! This experience gave me new perspectives for life! Namaste :)

The weather at night and in the morning was cold.

As a beginner, I had a great time discovering yoga and meditation at the ashram, the program is flexible and the teachers always made sure we don't get bored! It was the perfect atmosphere to relax and think, and to heal body and mind. The food was delicious and the accomodation clean and comfortable. I would definetely recommend it for a week or more!

This ashram is just perfect! The location is wonderful and there are many nice places to see around if you are up for a walk. The food is very delicious and you are never hungry. The yoga instructors are the best and they will help you and answer any questions you have. This week has been awesome and I can probably say that it has changed how I think about many things and how my lifestyle will be in the future! Thank you!

Its was both private, personal and professional at the same time. Its not luxuries, focus is on the all around individual experience of a ashram retreat. I would go again and recommend it to anyone who would like to challenge themselfs in several ways and levels. Its an unique individual journey that will change you, surprisingly it just happens to you and the people around you without you really noticing it.

I loved the peace, the food, the people, the walks, the talks and of cause the asanas......

Management could be improved. its working, but at times there was uncertainty about activities, who to talk to etc. You could argue that its a part of the overall experience to deal with that kind of uncertainty, but for be it was just the cause of unnecessary frustration.

I support the idea of Being a volunteer in the ashram, it reflects an symbolizes some of the values in the philosophy of yoga and ashram daily life, but it is however very important that the people chosen and taken in as volunteers, live up to the values, morals etc. of the role as a volunteer. Otherwise they just become a symbol of a backpacker who found a good way not to spend money and prolong the journey. This is of course up to management to obtain and secure that the people taken in as volunteer have true and real intentions. In this specific case I would suggest that being strict and put up demands would serve the greater purpose of a good vibe i the Ashram even though the idea of karma Yoga and letting it be up to people's own conscience is important. Its more important to make sure that everyone in the ashram is committed to the philosophy and spirit of the ashram. So that no one is ruining it for others.

The food was delicious, healthy and plentiful. We had three meals plus snack time, so I was never hungry. Lots of dark green fresh veggies and fresh fruit.

The staff aim to please and actively seek feedback.

Three teachers rotated amongst the classes so there was variety to the teaching and practices. Two teachers used tibetan singing bowls during class, which was lovely to listen to and feel.

Several facets of yoga are taught - not just asanas/postures.

None of the daily events were compulsory -

You could opt in/out of any part of the day. There was no pressure, guilt or judgement if you didnt, for example, do group meditation at 6am.

The location is away from city life but within a short walk of a village/town centre.

Showers are hot. There was an ensuite washroom with the dorm room.

The other guests and the staff make this place feel like a home with a big happy family. Everyone was kind, friendly, welcoming and supportive. They sing a "happy song" for each person when they leave. It is a nice touch.

The only aspect I really didnt like was the bed. I slept poorly most of the nights during my short stay. The bed/comforter-made-mattress was too hard for my liking (i sleep on my side) as was the blanket/comforter. I didnt mention this to the staff because my stay was short and i decided to live with it. Perhaps something could have been done had i said something.

Wifi was unreliable during the day but hardly a put off.

The food was incredible. The individuals there made it for me. I did leave early however I would not have tried to give the place a chance if it wasn't for the wonderful people I met.

The accomodation was not good enough. The water was not very warm in the only outdoor shower. Bring insect repellant!!! Our window couldn't close so there were many insects. All of the facilities were not good.

The main reason why I would not recommend this place is because they are still doing renovations on the larger yoga rooms, perhaps when they are finished it will run smoother.

However this ashram will never be good until they employ a good schedule. There is too much downtime. The meditation and breathing exercises were mostly self driven. The afternoon walks were very limited. Philosophy is a waste of time - I didn't learn anything that wasn't already common knowledge.

    I was very disappointed.

Basically all you pay for is 3 great meals, very poor accommodation and two yoga classes daily. Not what I was lead to believe on the website.

Just an amazing place with lovely people! The food is so good and everybody will help you if any problem appears. And yoga classes are very good, you really go deep in each posture. I really recommend this place. Thank you very much for this week!

This AshramIs the real deal. It is a must for those preparing to head into Pokhara and the many beautiful hikes of Nepal. Yoga was excellent covering the 12 Asanas breathing,

sun salutations, and happy yoga. Meals where organic and seconds always available. Nothing was too much trouble for this family run yoga center. I learnt so much in the short time I was there and will return before I start my next hike. A must do it reminds you to just be happy. It prepares you for the real life of the mountains. Absolutely love the place.

I had a really nice relaxed week here. It was so good to relax after my travels before heading home. All the people staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was simple but really tasty. I really enjoyed the Asana classes with the Vietnamese teacher (can't remember her name sorry). She was really informative and helped to ensure you were doing the positions correctly. For me the yoga philosophy classes were a bit repetitive and not as informative as intended but I think that is mainly a language barrier issue.

I'd have been happy to spend a few more days there.

While at the Ashram I was asked to describe my experience in 7 words by another visitor. The words I used are: Welcoming, Friendly, Warm-hearted, Interesting, Cold, Challenging, Delicious. Bhaktar tries his absolute best to ensure everyone is enjoying their time in Vedic Arogya Ashram. He has a very generous spirit as does his wife, 10 month old son and younger brother. The ladies (Didis) who cook incredible food and clean are a big part of the experience and helped to make my stay a memorable one. There are of course things which don't work out as planned and as with anything in Nepal it is good to be flexible to what may come. I had two very different experiences within the Ashram, first when there were only three guests it was subdued and Bhaktar seemed distracted and impatient to get on with other tasks (this may be his way though and I've interpreted it poorly?). Having said this it was calm and gave plenty of time for reflection and settling into a new country. Then the second experience when there was a larger group of guests a total of 10, the Ashram came alive in a totally different way and Bhaktar was more engaged and less obviously in a rush to do other tasks. It probably didn't help that the day after I arrived his Yoga teacher had to leave suddenly so he had to arrange a new one whilst taking all the classes himself and managing the Ashram and other bookings for the conference hall. I would definitely go back here but maybe in the summer though as it does get very cold first thing in the morning and at night. I am very glad to have met such warm, kind people and wish them all every success in the future.

Had a lovely time at Vedic Arogya Ashram! The Ashram is located on the hillside with beautiful and peaceful surroundings. I did the 8 days detox program, and left feeling very cleansed-physically and mentally.

Bakta, the owner and yoga teacher have been wonderful in welcoming me to the retreat. The place is magical and staff is very attentive to needs. The yoga and meditation classes were perfectly led by professional teachers. I would recommend this retreat to take a step back on our busy day to day life to help recenter own self.

Vedic Arogya Ashram was a down to earth, back-to-basics yoga retreat that was a complete healing experience for my mind, body, and soul. The owner and his wife were very knowledgeable but humble about their trade and made us all feel like family. The Ayurvedic detox program was both challenging and cleansing but not too extreme. It left me feeling refreshed and clean. The program was really wonderful and perfect for people who want to get away completely from the dust, business, and amenities of daily life and into the hills, villages, and smiling sunny neighborhood of rural Nepal.

  • Paula Profitos

The ashram was fantastic and awesome! Really nice place out of the dusty Kathmandu, healthy air, healthy food. The family are super peaceful and friendly, and the house has lots of spots to relax. If you are looking for a space to introduce yourself into a healthy lifestyle this is the right place.

This family is full of ENERGY and LOVE! Never have imagined I'd gain so many hearty friends in just a week with three days being silence. Accidents happened but life continues. My mind has become much stronger and calmer because of these yogis / avid travelers and the offerings from 4 amazing teachers and healers. Yoga is not only about asana, it's a belief rooted from your heart, mind and soul. With like minded people my heart has widely opened which made me a blessed and happy being that I have been dream of becoming. Such an excellent choice to be in Nepal with you guys!!! I was initially going to stay in Vedic Arogya Ashram for two weeks, but ended up staying there for three weeks and a half. I enjoyed our daily program of meditation, yoga, pranayama, lectures, walk, and kirtan very much, and pulse, I was more than grateful for the opportunities of cooking lunches and reading my poetry. I also tried 7 days fasting, and I am extremely happy to say my symptom of severe pain for my long-term illness of endometriosis and fibroid have subsided. Even after I left the ashram, I thank every day for all my friends and my family in Nepal for such a precious transforming time given to me.

It was incredibly good and well done! It's not a yoga holiday for beginners or those seeking luxury, but a real spiritual yoga experience. Bhakta is an amazing teacher (he runs the place with Love and care). The first night I wasn't sure whether I'd want to stay or not...but by the following evening I didn't want to leave!! The family are beautiful, kind and helpful and the food is amazing (it's veggie and spicy!!). The yoga classes are authentic, strongish and in 2 days my body was tight and fit (and I'm not young!!) If you are looking for a real yoga retreat...and not the commercial kind, this is the place!! A big kiss to Brother Bhakta, Beautiful didi, Gorgeoys Orgeous and Little Rocking amazing experience!!

What a magical and loving place! I spent a week here at it truly felt like I had come home. The yoga is FANTASTIC - beautiful, knowledgeable and soulful teachers who love to share their experiences and guide you in all aspects of yoga; from adjustments in asanas to offering advice during philosophy discussions. The nature walks are a wonderful part of the day and I really felt like i got to see a lot of the surrounding area. The food is always delicious and nutrionally balanced. The facilities are great; lots of outdoor space to relax, a delightful art and reading area and powerful hot showers! I cannot thank everyone enough at this beautiful place and i urge anyone considering booking to absolutely go for it! A true home from home. NAMASTE BROTHERS AND DIDI.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Vedic Arogya Ashram for an 8 day detox this winter. It was a wonderful, holistic experience. The scenery is magical and I felt as though I was in Shangri-La. My time there was truly restful, relaxing, mind-clearing and it was amazing to meet people from all over the world during our stay. I strongly recommend this retreat for people who are interested in Yoga and the exploring their own practice more deeply.

I had an absolutely lovely stay at this Ashram. Bhakta, his wonderful wife Ramita, brother Sroj, and the rest of the family together with the inspiring yoga teacher Olga, made the nine days I spent here an unforgettable memory. I was pleased with the yoga, asanas, and pranayama classes, which for a beginner were on a good level. The food was great, healthy, and tasty, and the walks in the afternoons in the beautiful surroundings were a highlight of the day.

During my stay I was also doing the detox program, which left me a few kilos lighter and my tummy so much happier and balanced. Even after I have returned home and slightly returned to a less "pure", westernized diet. Even though still vegetarian, I still feel the benefits of the detox.

I would highly recommend this place to everyone who would like to discover their inner peace through the art of yoga, enjoy the beautiful Nepalese nature, and adapt a healthier de-stressed life style. Thank you everyone!

It's the same place where I'd recovered my physical, mental and emotional health. I was mesmerized by the natural beauty of the creations made there. The staff of the Ashram were very friendly, helpful, attentive and action-oriented. I felt that I was grown there in A multi-therapeutic environment and I had been exposed to a wide variety of influences of living life very positively to the fullest. I was strengthened by their presence and my health suddenly began to recuperate. As the time went by, my mental health became very sound. In fact, they were very caring and loving towards me. I really had a special experience at the peaceful and beautiful Vedic Arogya Ashram. The people treat you like your own family, I always felt welcome and at home. I think the program is really unique and effective, I have seen peoples' lives change from staying there. The ashram is both spiritual and health focused, offering medicine, treatments, massage, Reiki and yoga and meditation. By staying for a while, they can help you make the changes in your life, which you really want, for the mind, body and spirit. I stayed in the very beginning, now these days there are more facilities and very interesting programs running. It is well away from the busy Thamel tourist scene, in the fresh mountain air and water. I recommend all people to come and stay or visit. Thank you everyone at the Ashram for your kindness and help, I love you all!
