You will stay at the Wellness Retreat Chez Gabard during the retreat. It is a beautiful manor with its parkland gardens and terraces where you can sit to read a book, listen to the birds, and gaze up at the blue skies. The guests can enjoy "me-time" and sunbathe around the south facing pool, pop in the Jacuzzi, or step into the infrared light therapy sauna.

The on-site treatment room offers an inclusive holistic treatment in the package. The spinning studio has 10 bikes where each session is very mindful and postures corrective, you do not have to be very fit to participate. There is also a Pilates studio with bi-folding door overlooking the pool, all classes are Pilates principle-based, so everyone may participate.

All of the rooms have en-suite shower or bath and towels, bathrobe, slippers, toiletries, and hair dryers. Pool towels are also provided. Bedding is of a high quality, pure Egyptian cotton sheets.

During this retreat, you will have time for some well-earned rest and relaxation, to read a book, have a holistic treatment in the organic treatment room by the pool, or just absorb the moment.

Weekly activities

Your activities in each day of the week will be different considering the needs of the participants in the group. Your week may consist of daily yoga classes, Pilates sessions, meditation sessions, inclusive holistic treatment, one-on-one personal training session, or workshops with meal calorie planner with helpful nutrition tips.

Additionally, you may go relaxing at the pool, infrared sauna, or Jacuzzi, spinning or indoor cycling, exercising with a Swiss ball or a mini trampoline, joining cooking class workshop, going on a kayaking or biking excursion and picnic, visiting a French market, sunbathing, or just taking walks.

Your typical day

Your day may start with a morning glass of juice or smoothie, followed by a yoga class, Pilates, or meditation session. After you enjoy your brunch, you will have some free time for you to spend on excursions or activities of your choice. In the afternoon, you will be served snacks to keep you through the day. You will then have a late afternoon fitness training session. You will enjoy your dinner with the calories adjusted to your needs. You will end your day with some free time.

During this retreat, you may go on bike rides, walks, and kayaking excursions.

    Debra has been teaching in the health and fitness industry for 30 years. Her background is in leisure management, leisure development, from director of recreation at The Sheraton Heliopolis, Cairo, to director of recreation at the DR Soloman Fakeeh Hospital, Jeddah KSA. Her qualifications and experience range from exercise to music (ETM) teacher, Schwinn spinning instructor, PEAK and STOTT Pilates mat or reformer, re-bounder, various GrpX classes, diplomas in reflexology and aromatherapy, holistic treats facials, and other beauty treatments.

This retreat will take place in Chalais, France. The manor house is situated in the south of France in Charente, a micro-climate, the sunniest department in France. It is only a one-hour drive to Bordeaux, 35 minutes to Angouleme, and Spain can be reached in few hours drive.

During this retreat, you will be served daily nutritious brunch and dinner. There will also be morning juice or smoothie and mid afternoon snacks. Karen's Kitchen provides a program for your caloric needs and goals. All food is locally sourced, fresh, and seasonal.

All meal plans are based on the group's aims, be it weight loss, healthy eating, or sugar-free diet, the healthy gourmet food concept. The menu is prepared with an emphasis on an alkalizing and energizing clean non-processed packet diet. It is a gentle, satisfying way to detox and cleanse, and help you break bad habits.

The focus there will be on clean conscious eating. Portion control will allow you to have everything in moderation, teaching you a better way to eat. This way, you can take home some ideas and a mini cookbook with a meal planner and shopping list in order to enable you to sustain your new eating plan. Wellness Retreat Chez Gabard will send out a guest questionnaire form prior to the retreat so you can let them know if you have dietary needs or allergies.

During your free time, you can always relax by the pool, go for a swim, enjoy a treatment at the spa, or do other activities. There will also be an opportunity for you to visit some sites of touristic interest.

During this retreat, you will have access to the manor's outdoor Jacuzzi and infrared sauna. You may book additional spa or massage treatments at an additional price.
