​The 131 guest rooms and suites at YO1 Health Resort seamlessly blend the beauty of the Catskill Mountain setting with the ambiance and amenities of modern comfort. YO1 Health Resort has beautiful walking trails, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, educational wellness speakers and lecture series, as well as bikes for guest use on the property. The pool is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday to Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday to Sunday. The fitness center is open from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday to Thursday and from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday to Sunday.

During this retreat, you will stay in a lake view king suite. Furnished with luxurious interiors and subtle, white decor, these suites make for the most comfortable stay experience. With a spacious area of 853 square feet, the suites also consist of a large, private living space designed to give you a relaxing time. A robe, pair of slippers, and towels are provided for you in your room. Dry cleaning services can be provided to guests for a nominal fee.

The YO1 approach

Ayurveda

Ayurveda relies on the concept of balancing Doshas (body’s energy), enhancing the power of digestion, the optimum function of dhatus (fundamental elements of the body), efficient elimination of waste products, and the balanced blissful state of mind, soul, and senses. All therapies and techniques are curative and promotive in nature.

Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a self-healing system that focuses on realigning the elements of the body through a disciplined daily routine and therapies that cleanse and detoxify the various organs in the body. At YO1, the counselors also create a diet and nutrition program with regular juicing, intermittent fasting, high intake of water, and an all-organic, plant-based vegetarian diet that is ideal to optimize immunity

Yoga

Yogic kriyas cleanse the body and mind and enhance the resistance of the individual towards infections. Asanas balance every system in the body and make it stronger to fight against any infection while Pranayama enhances the pranic energy in the Nadis invariably assisting the individual to perform to the optimum level both physically and mentally. Meditation reduces stress levels, improves sleep patterns contributing to mental and emotional health.

Hatha yoga

Hatha is a very broad term that encompasses all the physical practices of yoga such as asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation. In the word 'Hatha', 'ha' means 'sun', and 'tha' means 'moon'. Therefore, Hatha yoga is a practice that enables a practitioner to balance his or her solar and lunar energies. They understand here at YO1 that everybody is unique, and people will be of various experience levels.

Hatha yoga regulates the flow of prana and brings about physical and mental wellness. The asanas strengthen and detoxify the body and improve muscle and joint flexibility. It induces deeper physiologic, psychic, and mental changes and takes you to a higher level of awareness. Hatha yoga helps to strengthen the body and the mind to gain flexibility, strength, stamina, and balance.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture helps strengthen the immune system by increasing red and white blood cell counts and producing t-cells. One of the best parts of acupuncture is that the increased cellular response lasts even after the session.

Procedure

When you arrive at YO1, you will be directed to a wellness reception area. At the wellness reception is a wellness concierge who will greet you and obtain some basic information from you. This information is passed along to a naturopathy counselor who will welcome you and guide you to a counselor room to speak to you about the objective of your visit. As a part of the counseling process, the counselor fills in a therapy and diet sheet and hands this over to you. The counselor also explains the significance of each therapy suggested, as well as diet and juices.

Based on your health conditions, the counselor will refer you to acupuncture practitioners and yoga instructors. Once the naturopathy counseling gets completed (about 15 to 20 minutes), you will be directed to the Ayurveda practitioner where the practitioner will review what has been suggested so far by the naturopath. The Ayurveda practitioner will then conduct a dosha analysis based on Vata, Pitta, or Kapha principles and decide your dosha along with the Ayurveda therapies he or she suggests. After the entire counseling session is complete, you will be sent back to the wellness reception.

The concierge team will provide additional information, an itinerary, and schedule your recommended therapies. You will then be guided to the therapy section for the administration of therapies. Please note that guests arriving by 10:00 a.m. will receive morning therapies. Guests arriving after 10:00 a.m. will receive afternoon services. Any guests that arrive after 3:00 p.m. will begin their therapies the following day. All guests arriving before 5:00 p.m. will receive their wellness assessment on the day they arrive. Please wear bathrobes for hydrotherapy, massage, mud therapy, and acupuncture.

Food

All breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included in the price. The culinary program is based on a wholesome, balanced, and portioned diet. All of the food served at YO1 is locally sourced, organic, and sustainable. The ingredients that are used are free of harmful chemicals, alkaline, and genetic modification to create meals that promote an optimum state of health. You will be provided one cup of herbal tea in the morning and one in the afternoon and eight to 10 glasses of water throughout the day.

You will follow juice therapy during breakfast hours. Juices have micro-nutrients such as calcium, vitamins, and minerals which detox and cleanse the body. It is especially good when taken in the morning. You can enjoy your breakfast spread in the dining room from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. YO1 Wellness Center offers a full dining menu during your stay at the resort. You can enjoy fresh, cold-pressed juices from the juice bar and tea, coffee, or light snacks from the tea cafe. Lunch is provided from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and dinner is provided from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

You are requested to eat only in the designated dining spaces on the property. Juices help cleanse and nourish the body due to the vitamin and mineral content present in various fruits and vegetables. Juices play a particularly significant role in natural cleansing and therapeutic fasting. Under therapeutic fasting, guests are typically given a maximum of four to five glasses of fresh fruit and vegetable juices per day at regular intervals of time. Guests on a normal diet are recommended to drink four glasses of juices, in addition to their meals, to keep hydrated.

Therapies included

Swedish massage (50 minutes)

Relieve stress from the body with a therapeutic Swedish massage. In this therapy, a variety of manipulations like effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, vibration or shaking, and joint movements are used to help eliminate toxic accumulation in the body. These toxins often cause stress, fatigue, muscular aches, and pains in the body.

This unique detox therapy helps relax the muscles and boosts circulation. It improves flexibility, reduces stress, and improves immunity. Swedish massage techniques can help to not only relieve physical stress but emotional stress as well. This therapy can also improve circulation and reduce joint pains, stiffness, and provide relief to those with osteoarthritis.

Enema (5 minutes)

Flush out toxins from your body with a gentle enema therapy. In this therapy, the colon is cleansed through a simple procedure in which warm water is gently passed into the rectum. The water increases the movement of the intestines, promoting bowel movements and eradicating general constipation.

This is a detox technique that cleanses your body of toxins and cleanses the colon. It regulates your blood pressure and heart rate besides rejuvenating your respiratory and digestive systems. This is a good technique to reduce body temperature. This therapy is especially effective when paired with fasting therapy.

Podikizhi (herbal powder poultice therapy - 60 minutes)

This therapy uses herbal powder and oil, in which powders are made into boluses using cloth (potli). The boluses are slightly heated in the oil before they are placed on the body and massaged in a circular motion, either on the full body or locally on certain body parts. It improves circulation and helps you deal with body aches. It reduces swelling in the joints and offers relief from muscular spasm and stiffness. This therapy can help in the treatment of sprains, sports injuries, and obesity. It also detoxifies the skin and helps in getting rid of physical stress.

Acupuncture

At YO1, you can find highly experienced licensed acupuncturists that will integrate acupuncture and other traditional Chinese therapies into your wellness plan. Acupuncture itself is the art of stimulating specific points on the body and opening blockages that could be leading to pain, low energy, bloating, and reduced function of organs. Like all therapies at YO1, you will be evaluated for your unique concerns and conditions before you participate in acupuncture therapy.

Depending on your diagnosis and plan, you may receive the healing benefits of acupuncture every day or every other day. This will ensure that the diet, yoga, and other therapies you are undergoing during your stay are effectively synchronized with your acupuncture therapy. Coming to YO1 is the first step to creating balance in both your body and your life, and acupuncture is just one of the ways you can achieve that.

This key component of traditional Chinese medicine can help balance the life force in the body. It can offer relief from the discomfort associated with many diseases and conditions, including chemotherapy-induced and postoperative nausea and vomiting, dental pain, headaches, all kinds of pain, and even respiratory disorders like allergic rhinitis.

You can book a private massage in your suite. This service is part of the all-inclusive package so long as the service is booked during normal therapy hours. If you should choose an evening therapy, those are available by appointment only through the wellness concierge.
