The house where you will be staying is vast, with an informal walled garden offering hammocks and a labyrinth for walking meditation. The yoga shala is on the top floor of the house, overlooking the medieval rooftops. There are three very large bedrooms, each individually styled, sharing two bathrooms. There are two further enormous suites with their own bathroom on the first floor.

The bedrooms have a certain monastic simplicity, uncluttered and candle-lit, but they are huge and look as if they have been styled by Elle decoration. For guests with allergies, the house was renovated using low-toxin and natural materials. Guests with cat allergies need to be aware that cats visit the garden from neighboring properties, but are not permitted in the house.

During this retreat, you will be held by a clear schedule to facilitate self-retreating. You will rise in silence and remain so until 10:00 a.m. The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with warm drinks, coffee, and teas, followed by joint self-practice at 8:00 a.m. and a hearty vegan breakfast at 11:00 a.m. Thereafter, you have free time to do your own thing, until dinner together at 6:15 p.m. The evening is closed with a silent meditation at 8:45 p.m.

Day 1

  • 15:00 Arrive and settle into your room. Drinks and snacks will be available from the kitchen. Feel free to use the yoga shala for any self-practice. Please respect the shala as a quiet space.
  • 16:00 Gertrud is available to answer any questions.
  • 18:15 Dinner.
  • 20:45 Joint evening meditation.

Day 2 and 3

  • 07:30 Remaining silent, coffee, chai, and teas will be available in the kitchen.
  • 08:00 Joint morning self-practice in silence.
  • 10:00 Noble silence ends.
  • 11:00 Breakfast
  • 11:30 Free time. Explore, walk, retreat.

  • Gertrud Keazor

Gertrud is a retired international athlete, a qualified massage therapist, and a Reiki practitioner. She teaches the ancient wisdom traditional use of ujjayi breath, mindful movement, and visualizations to reach a deep state of meditation and awareness of inner space. She will use common yoga postures as part of this practice. Gertrud does not have any formal yoga teacher qualifications but she has studied different approaches to meditation and mindfulness and has changed her life through the comprehensive healing practice, which she shares on the retreats.

This retreat will take place in a bohemian village chateau located in a medieval village in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, France.

"I arrived at Yobaba after an extremely stressful year and feeling rundown, unhealthy, and out of sync with my inner self."

"I did not come just seeking yoga. I did not come seeking meditation and silence. I did not come just for fabulous, vegan food. Nor did I come to simply relax. I came to Yobaba for much more. I came seeking a holistic, nurturing experience where all of the above was cleverly woven together to help me regain my vitality and energy for life."

"Two weeks later, I head home with my mind, body, and soul nurtured fully back to a state of calm and well-being."

"It is the holistic way in which Gertrud and her wonderful team were able to guide me to do all the things I needed to destress and get back to a state where I am recharged to embrace life with happiness and zest. Gertrud's program brilliantly brings it all together, helped also by the chance to experience the magnificent region around Chalabre. She gave us the flexibility and assurance to find our own paths to self-care; however, following her on the journey is the best path to take."

"For anyone who feels their batteries fast running down, Yobaba Lounge is the one place on earth to come for that holistic nurturing and recharge."

"In my mind, simply a life-changing experience that I recommend to anyone to try if they have the opportunity."

"To Gertrud and the team, thank you from the bottom of my heart. The most fulfilling thing one can do in life is to give of yourself to help others. You and the team ought to feel very fulfilled in what you are doing. It is unique and it works! I give you five stars; actually, I will give you six! I will be back again. With love, Glenn."

"Thank you to Gertrud and team. I just came back from this amazing yoga retreat. I was not sure what to expect and was in two minds. Having a real bad sweet tooth, I thought vegan food and no sugar, really? But I was wowed. The food was five-star Michelin style and the desserts were insane. The energy that Gertrud brings out makes you feel like you are on top of the world. The scenery and nearby stream among the village mountains are epic and, finally, the house itself is magical. If you are unsure about yoga treats and what to expect, I totally recommend this place; it will open your eyes to new and wonderful things and, best of all, you only have to take back with you what you want from it. Gertrud is an amazing teacher and a friend. I never thought a yoga retreat would be like this. Yobaba Lounge, you rule. Lots of love, Sejal."

"So I have come to the end of a wonderful retreat here at Yobaba Lounge. It really has been an extraordinary five days and such a beautiful group that has come together and shared amazing experiences."

"Gertrud and Naela hold a very wonderful temple space here. And here, that process of being held allows for transformation and the energies to arise through the practice, through the breath work, and through the yoga, to allow us to let go and to come into stillness."

"This has brought up all sorts of residual emotions that get moved as we have worked with our bodies, worked with the yoga practices and the inner breath work that is so much part of the practice and richness Gertrud shares."

"The food on the retreat has just been amazing. So inspiring and so stunningly gorgeous that everybody was savoring every mouthful."

"This truly is an extraordinary place to be and an extraordinary gift that you can offer yourself to come and be in the presence of this amazing landscape and this offering that is present here."

"So, yes it has been a fabulous time and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to be here."

"This is the yoga shala and the very beautiful temple space. I am going back with a sense of really needing to simplify my life and to come back into the true essence of who I am and what I am here for. I feel very refreshed, very nourished, and very held. Huge thank you to Gertrud and Naela."

"Thank you for such a divine retreat. Yobaba truly is a place of magic."

"I felt a renewed harmony within me and with the world that is so very very rare. It takes a brazen soul to offer her own precious beauty to others and to share her yoga; a kind of distillation of breath form that allowed us all to experience the essence of yoga."

"Like the great Mark Whitwell or Erich Schiffmann, Gertrud, with passion and wry wit, focused us on the profound pleasure of the breath moving through the body, effortlessly clearing, and strengthening as it goes."

"Taking time to experience yoga at its purest and simplest offered me a sense of deep renewal and delight."

"Beauty and generosity permeate through everything here in this deep ancient land. To be held by Yobaba Lounge was like a brief but deeply amorous affair with a potency that you can carry with you forever."

"What can you say about the wonderment that is Yobaba Lounge? Everything! It was an extraordinary ten days. To be enfolded into the spirit and magic of the house and people is the best remedy to center, reflect, and reenergize."

"I loved walking the labyrinth. I loved the morning meditation and reflection, and I do not like early activity. I loved the food and I truly loved my bathroom!"

"This was my second visit and it gets better each time. The openness and warmth of Gertrud and her philosophy and this extraordinary chateau are uplifting and help you look and see clearly. I cannot wait until July when I get back for a retreat. Given I come from New Zealand, three times in twelve months will be bliss! Thanks so much for all you do."
