We invite yogis, meditators, writers, artists, and adventurers to stay for four nights or more when we are not hosting formal retreats. We offer a structured morning hold, consisting of a guided morning practice and silence until 10 a.m. (from rising). Thereafter, the day is yours. Stay and relax in the walled garden, unwind, write or venture out and explore the stunning region. An evening meal will be a plant-based creation free from dairy, sugar, and wheat. The day is closed with a 30-minute breathing circle at 8:30 p.m. The accommodation is vast, clutter-free and quirky. The house is calm, welcoming and feels like a temple. You can stay longer, please enquire.
The house where you will be staying is vast, with an informal walled garden offering hammocks and a labyrinth for walking meditation. The yoga shala is on the top floor of the house, overlooking the medieval rooftops. There are three very large bedrooms, each individually styled, sharing two bathrooms. There are two further enormous suites with their own bathroom on the first floor.
The bedrooms have a certain monastic simplicity, uncluttered and candle-lit, but they are huge and look as if they have been styled by Elle decoration. For guests with allergies, the house was renovated using low-toxin and natural materials. Guests with cat allergies need to be aware that cats visit the garden from neighboring properties, but are not permitted in the house.
During this retreat, you will be held by a clear schedule to facilitate self-retreating. You will rise in silence and remain so until 10:00 a.m. The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with warm drinks, coffee, and teas, followed by joint self-practice at 8:00 a.m. and a hearty vegan breakfast at 11:00 a.m. Thereafter, you have free time to do your own thing, until dinner together at 6:15 p.m. The evening is closed with a breathing circle at 8:45 p.m.
No formally led excursions are included in this retreat. However, there is an opportunity for wild swimming in Lac Montbel, glorious walking tracks and, if you have access to your own transport, there are many sites of outstanding beauty and historical interest for you to explore.
Gertrud is a retired international athlete, a qualified massage therapist, and a Reiki practitioner. She teaches the ancient wisdom traditional use of ujjayi breath, mindful movement, and visualizations to reach a deep state of meditation and awareness of inner space. She will use common yoga postures as part of this practice. Gertrud does not have any formal yoga teacher qualifications but she has studied different approaches to meditation and mindfulness and has changed her life through the comprehensive healing practice, which she shares on the retreats.
This retreat will take place in a bohemian village chateau located in a medieval village in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, France.
During this retreat, you will enjoy delicious vegan meals every day. You will stick to a 16:8 time table. This means that you can be fasting for 16 hours (mostly through the night) and eat all meals during the eight hour period from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. This way of eating has shown amazing benefits. Breakfast will be one of the sensational raw vegan creations, with a freshly squeezed juice. Dinner will be a tasty and satisfying vegan meal. You can eat out in the village or nearby restaurants if you need additional meals.
During your free time, you may relax, reflect, walk, explore the region, or enjoy wild swimming. You may also join public led classes which cost approximately 10 to 15 EUR per class.
